Wales, Ontario, Canada

Concrete floor and foundation of a building adjacent to the main north-south road through Wales, Ontario. One broken piece of concrete juts through the surface of water so shallow that at certain times of year one can wade along the village’s streets. Situated on low lying land, Wales was the only inland village flooded with opening of the St Lawrence Seaway in 1958; most of its 200 residents moved to Ingleside, Ontario.
